The video includes footage from the new Bulgarian film “Hunting Down Small Predators”, whose local premiere is in October. Tsvetodar Markov, director of the film and the video, wasn’t able to attend the premiere personally, because he is in Cannes, where his film will be shown in front of the world’s cinema guild.

The party-premiere had actors from the film though – Lyudmila Slaneva, Yana Kitova, Emil Emilov, as well as the first production assistant, Ani Vicheva. She told the band’s fans that the film, whose soundtrack Ostava made, is shot extremely fast – only for 22 days. And that she hopes the audience would accept the film with the same passion as they have for Ostava. First bites from the film can be had only from the video! Yesterday in the club it was seen and applauded by the guys from Skre4, Sepuko 6, Ivaylo Kraychovski from FSB and lots more.

From today, “Mexico” airs on the TV and Radio waves.

The fourth video from “Rock’N'Roll Song Designers” is real! Directed by Tsvetodar Markov, it will premiere on May 18th in Radio Café (under the Lovers’ Bridge). All friends of the band, colleagues and journalists, people tempted by contemporary rock music, are invited to the premiere showing of “Mexico” at 7 pm.

After the promotion of the video the fans of the band will be able to enjoy a mini concert including acoustic versions of some of Ostava’s classics along with brand new material.

Svilen: “Mexico” is my favourite track of the album, it’s even the whole band’s favourite track. We love playing it live, because it’s dynamic and the lyrics are equal parts serious and funny – about the relationship between a Bulgarian and a West-European girl.”

The mutual work of the band and the director of the “Mexico” video is only one part of a greater project of theirs. Ostava have created the music for Tsvetodar’s debut feature film, “Hunting Down Small Predators”, to be presented at the Cannes Film Festival in a few days’ time (May 19th). The Bulgarian audience will be able to watch it this autumn. Until then, the first bits from the film can be had only in the Ostava video!

The film is the directorial debut of Tsvetodar Markov, written by Christian Nochev. In it, four naïve youngsters decide to make easy money, not suspecting that a stranger with a dark past and a troubled present will overturn their lives. Starring: Hristo Shopov, Marian Valev, Vladimir Georgiev, Stefan Mavrodiev, Lyudmila Slaneva and others.

The soundtrack will consist exclusively of tunes off Ostava’s latest studio effort “Rock’n’Roll Song Designers?” along with “Stop” as theme song of the project. The band is currently working on a new version of “Stop”, which will be created especially to fit better into the concept of the film.

The official trailer of “Hunting down small predators” will be released soon and will reveal further surprises for the fans of Ostava.

The video to “Mexico” will be out in 2 to 3 weeks.

On January 13, a devastating earthquake hit the poorest country in the Western hemisphere – Haiti. Every third person of the population of 9 million is affected – lost a close one, has been hurt or remained homeless.

At the moment, Haiti has 3 million people in trouble. Ostava will play in Sofia Live Club on February 15, as part of a series of concerts, organised by I CAN TOO to help those, affected by the earthquake. Ostava will be supported by D2, Baby Face CLan, Matchpoint and DJ Dessi.

At the event, a special bank account will be announced, which will gather funds in complete transparency, in order to help the people who suffer from the earthquake.

Towards the end of January, Ostava will play two concerts in Romanian clubs. The musicians are to travel to Bulgaria’s northern neighbour by invitation from the local superstars KUMM. The gigs are dated on January 27 in Cluj and on January 29 in Bucharest.

The two bands have a long history of mutual concerts, which begins as early as the summer of 2008, when the two bands played on the same stage of Sziget, the cult Hungarian festival. Subsequently, the Romanians visited Bulgaria by invitation from the Plovdiv club Petnoto. The bands’ latest playing together took place this summer at the sea bars Music Beach (Shkorpilovtsi) and Swingin’ Beach (Lozenets).

“We’ve been planning to play with KUMM in Romania for a long time” – explains drummer Dani – “We had agreed to play the their new album promotion. But it got delayed and the plans complicated due to a variety of reasons. Now everything is set and I’m certain there will be a cool party.”

“The clubs hold about 300-400 people and I hope they will be full” – adds Joro (guitar, vocals) and confides that he is overwhelmed by the opportunity to travel to Transylvania, where lay the legendary lands of Count Dracula.

For the first time in Bulgaria’s northern neighbour, Ostava will present live the songs from their latest studio album “Rock’n’Roll Song Designers?” (on the market by Virginia Records). Naturally, the Romanian Ostava fans will listen to all the other hits too.

Aside from the numerous participations in clubs at home, the musicians from Ostava are hard at work on new material. While the details about a new studio album are still secret, they could reveal that a live acoustic CD is to be released in the next few months.

Meanwhile, the revamped band site, www.ostava.com, was released hours before the coming of the new 2010 year. Apart from the new platform, expanded information and a totally different vision, it is now integrated with the social networks Facebook and Twitter. A mobile version is in place, to make it easier for the fans. Soon, the site will start selling band merchandise.
